Edgar Allan Poe brooch

I finally did it! This week I decided to particapate on the contest proposed. It had to be something visual about Edgar Allan Poe or about his work.

* Size : 11 cm x 12 cm (including the tulle)
* I used a photograph as a reference: [link]
* I tried to reproduce the way Poe wrote his own name, it came out very similar though not exactly the same :S
* I used photoshop to add the border and make and slight adjustment of color. My screen is really dark, so if anybody thinks the photograph looks too shiny I would be very thankful if you told me (plizzzz)

I had two ideas, one was making a brooch of Mr. Poe himself or one about one of his tales 'The cat'.
I made the sketches of both but the one I liked most was Edgar's portrait. Yesterday night, while I was making a ring (yeah, I'll show it to you in another deviation) it occurred to me that perhaps I wouldn't be able to make Mr. Poe recognisable in felt. So I started to grow a little anxious about the idea. So at 23:00 I decide to try with his face. It came out but I started to have new ideas and I thought I couldn't leave it for today... so I didn't stop until I finished it, 5 hours later .

I know, I had plenty of time, but it turned out quite a challenge and I don't usually have much time to let my imagination go (today I had no uni)

I don't think I'll win but now I have an Edgar Allan Poe's brooch and that's enough for me. If it wouldn't be for the contest it wouldn't have ocurred to me!



Materials:

* Grey,black, white and beige felt
* Black tule
* Garnet ribbon for the handkerchief
* Dark golden chain
* Garnet coloured beads
* A pin
* ... lots of patience and time
